The Californian side of this desert, including the Colorado River Valley region, receives an average of less than five inches of rain each year, generally falling during winter. Creosote bushes and White Bursage dominate the plant life in the Sonoran desert, although the tall columnar Saguaro cactus is the symbol of the Arizona desert.
